john vance was born in newport r.i. and has since lived around the united states and japan. he lived in new york while attending parsons school of design, then graduated in 2004. in 2005 he moved to portland, oregon where he still lives most of the time. he has participated in numerous group shows in and around new york city and portland. after spending some time in ann arbor michigan, he is now back in portland – drawing pictures and running childrens art classes at the southeast foster YMCA arts center, as well as  working on commissions for private collectors,  occasional storyboards and even murals!  in his free time he enjoys painting, listening to music, riding his bicycle to the movies, traveling and sometimes sleeping.
