John Vance graduated in 2004 with a BFA in Illustration. He has been working with youth art programs since 2008.
He has taught locally with the Southeast YMCA ARTS center, the Portland Child Art Studio, the Pacific Northwest School of Art, Skyline K-8, Village Home School and George Middle School / SUNSCHOOLS.
Through Collaborative Mural Projects, JOHN VANCE hopes to bring meaningful and positive collaborative art making experiences to young people in schools and youth programs.
John will work with your school to create a custom collaborative mural curriculum that matches your specific schedule. Participants will begin painting right away and will learn in a “hands on” way how to handle and apply paint with a variety of tools, as well learning vocabulary on how to communicate about color and design.
We will look at examples of other murals and artists to inform the kind of mural the students are interested in creating. Once approved by the school the painting process will begin.
